VC++ and Allegro
« on: May 11, 2002, 07:44:38 PM »
(EDIT: nevermind! i figured it out myself :D VICTOLY. well, for building console apps anyway)

:pirate: yo, sup, sagat here deliverin da tiger in da uppercuuuts

nevermind.  i just want to know how to properly integrate/link allegro and its libraries into Visual C++ and the programs i build in it.  i've done everything i could possibly think of and whatever was listed in the instructions, which include:

download directx 7 standard dev kit and place in proper directories
download the precompiled allegro windows binaries themselves
manually link to three of the allegro libraries and adjust settings in vc++

ok, that wasn't much.  i'm really just confused and out of my mind and don't know what i'm talking about but here are linker errors i get when i try to build a sample project included with the allegro file (it's a dos app):

--------------------Configuration: exsprite - Win32 Debug--------------------

exsprite.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol __imp__install_allegro
exsprite.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol __imp___WinMain
LIBCD.lib(crt0.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _main

i don't know what's going on...!

well anyways, i just want to be able to build win32 programs with allegro libraries.  or maybe build dos apps from vc++ even though i could do that in djgpp but nevermind.  i need heeeeelp understaaandiiiiiiiing
