Splatoon is awesome, truly is.
When I first saw it in the directs, I thought, this game looks dumb.
None of the trailers impressed me at all.
It wasn't until the global test fire, that I started to love the game.
Then once I bought the game, I got addicted to it!

The greatest part of splatoon is probably the constant updates.
Some people say, they should of did this from the start, and would of agreed at first, but now, I don't.
I unlocked everything for weapons, and played on all maps at the beginning.
I still had fun playing the same maps, but what got me most excited is the release of new content.
It helps keep the excitement for the game for a longer period of time, and it's something you can keep coming back to.

If you own a WiiU, get this game asap... no need to wait for updates, as they're updating it weekly, and there's a tourney coming on June 20th.
Also, it takes time and dedication to unlock everything, so by the time you unlock everything, odds are there's more to unlock right around the corner.

Random long-dead member pops in to post randomly.

I watched a good chunk of a 24-hour stream put on by a decent player of the game.  It looks fun.  I question the $70 tag in Canada, might try for a used copy if I ever get a Wii U.  I really just can't afford the Wii U ATM.

They were talking about it at work. It sounded like it was a unique game to say the least.

UPDATE
We got like 4(maybe 5) more maps added, and at least 5 weapons.
We also now have Ranked mode.
I lost track... all I know is there's been like 2 updates per 10 day cycle.
so that price should be worth it.

There's also been a leak that we'll eventually get over 30 more weapons... so that is at least 50 different weapons.

Wait.  They aren't charging for DLC, they just add all this stuff?  What a novel idea!  Sakurai?

(Seriously, I can play against new characters on new stages online, I have no reason to buy anything on 3DS.)

Their strategy is to keep splatoon talked about through out the entire summer.
So they keep adding free DLC.

The only DLC not free are the Amiibo missions which gets you reskin weapons and outfits(no advantage), as well as extra mini-games(these are the mini games you play while waiting to play)

They might charge DLC in the future, but I don't see them charging for weapons other then reskins, nor do I see them charging for maps.

I recently bought splatoon via nintendo download, but I recently moved onto campus with my wife and I didn't know that there were restrictions on the network. Apparantly the Wii U needs its own port to game online, vs my PS4 which can do just fine with the normal connnections. This means that I bought this game but can't use it. DX We go to my parents house for dinner every sunday though, so sometimes i bring it with me to get a few rounds in. I must say I really like this game. The atmosphere is well done. The games only have 2 maps at any given time, but they rotate every hour or so, which gives the feel of new maps all the time. Also they do actually make new maps all the time, lol. Anyway, this game is pretty addicting and way fun, I just worry about replayability in a few years it will be obsolete, which means my kids wont be able to play it. (wife is confirmed pregnant. release date sometime in february ;P)
