Yeah, it does have an auto-uploader, you just sync it up with the YouTube page via the 'Connect' tab in the settings.

As for Wednesday, that sounds pretty good. I shall be doing my stream in about 20 minutes, hopefully do a full playthrough of Cave Story.

Having GU chat guests on would be pretty fun. I wonder how one would manage that after a stream's been started?

So I set myself up as an authorised broadcaster, and opped my account in the chat. This will work much better for letting others play, we can do it so everyone who wants to stream we just set up as an authorised broadcaster for their stream (or indefinitely for the regular streamers).
Either way, with my stream due to the time of it I only had one viewer, but it was still fun. I made it about 1/4 of the way through the game before I had to leave.

Hey, guys, do you know if there's a way to stream off my DS?

There is a way, but you need to get a capture device such as the Dazzle I have for my Consoles. The Dazzle won't work on DS, but there are DS specific ones you can purchase, where from there you simply stream the screen region of the capture (real time).

There isn't one, unless you're using a DS Phat, and in that case it's sold out. Unless you really want to make a homebrew video capture card for your DS, I think you're better off getting an emulator and capturing the window with your two DS screens. You can do that with either Splitcam (as a secondary capture device you can hook into XSplit) or with XSplit.

You'll need a decent machine to run the DS emulator. Last time I tried to run Sonic Chronicles on my old desktop, it ran really slowly. Then again, it might depend upon the emulator, the game, or both. Do some research and see what you can find out.

Success!

Well, I managed to stream a bit of Binding of Isaac last night. I learned a few things about streaming with XSplit that might be useful for newbies like me:

1) Before testing your bandwidth (like in XSplit), set your Location. Don't use the default or you'll get bogus upload rates. Turns out my desktop is just fine for streaming.
2) Make sure you've got your profile selected and Apply'd before you hit OK, otherwise you'll get the wrong URL copied to your clipboard.
3) If you get a justin.tv URL, it's okay. Apparently Justin.tv and Twitch.tv are the same thing now.
4) To see the chat, go to your main Twitch.tv page and mute the audio, then go to the Dashboard. If you don't mute the audio and then go to the Dashboard, you'll start a feedback loop and hear yourself echo.
5) Don't forget to click-and-drag your screen capture/captured window inside the XSplit window to max size and, if you want, disable the aspect ratio in the right-click menu. Otherwise your viewers will see a small box in a black void. For some reason I just didn't get this and figured it would either fullscreen the screen capture when streaming or there was a Fullscreen tickbox I had to hunt for

Okay, I have an emu and the rom.

So, do I just need XSplit to stream? Or do I need VideoLAN, too? Can someone explain this to me? Thanks. :)

Just XSplit. It's your go-to suite for video/audio recording and streaming. It even manages the volume of your streaming object (i.e. your game or anything else you want streamed) versus the volume of your mic device, if you've got one.

VideoLAN was just for setting up a private video stream of your game window that Mach was going to use to stream all of our individual screens into a single output stream for the Twitch.tv channel. If you wanted, you could probably use VLC/VideoLAN to capture the desktop (or something like Splitcam or CamStudio) and then have XSplit capture THAT video/audio source instead of capturing it itself. But for VideoLAN, I think it'd just be video and not audio; Splitcam should capture both while XSplit would manage your microphone audio.

Okay, I'm confused, what do I use for streaming my emulation? Screen Capture?

Okay, I figured it out, now how do I post it to our channel?

Edit: Oh, I see. Crap. All the test broadcasts were submitted. Is there a way to delete those? The 30 minute one is the real broadcast. And how I do make so it's under my name instead of Kaiser's?

Edit2: OH! I figured it out. I logged on as our GamingUniverse account and fixed things. Coolios! :D

Nice job bro! I'll be looking forward to the next parts.

So is anyone still interested in me playing Binding of Isaac to the end? Or would you rather something else?

I'm thinking, if my brother's up for it, I could stream us doing a LAN co-op play of Serious Sam FE this weekend or Friday. Haven't set a date for it, so if anyone's interested lemme know.
