Another silly idea
« on: April 14, 2012, 09:50:09 PM »
I've been playing Team Fortress 2 recently. It's a real fun online Free To Play game. The community is large, so large in fact that people love to talk about the game constantly.

There was this one youtuber I watch where he gives tips and advice..then he advertised his forum.
http://forums.acefortress.com/index.php

He lured people by giving out TF2 items just for joining, posting a few times, and sticking around. It worked on me, even though I didn't get anything, it's a nice place to talk about TF2.

So maybe GU could do the same thing, however you have to allow some spam...especially when it comes to trade advertising.
Someone likes me trades constantly and quickly, so you'll have to allow some double posting in these cases...either way it could jump start this place easily.

Just do four things.
1. Download steam and TF2
https://steamcommunity.com/
2. Create a forum section
3. Get involved with TF2 in some way. One easy example is create sprays(images that can be placed in the games). It's simple to do. (Read below) Play the game...you could even advertise GU through a spray in a creative way. Also, create some kind of tournament or host a server.
4. Bribe people. Some people may come and go, but if they make friends here, they will stay...isn't GU about friendship after all?

This game is completely different then any other first person shooter. There are 9 classes and unlike counter strike, you can't win by skill alone. You have to work with your teammates.
If you choose a sniper class, and zoomed up with your rifle, you could be back stabbed by a spy. A spy can be invisible(they can't attack during this time), look like a teammate, or pretend to die(invisibility but with a dead body falling). If you choose Heavy you can use a machine gun to kill a lot of people, and you can get help from a medic who will heal you and make you very powerful. However, you can be back stabbed, sniped, etc. As an engineer your not too powerful but you can build a robot gun(think portal 2), healers, and teleporters..however spies can take you down easily. Spies have the lowest health, not too powerful for guns...they are best at stealth. There's many more classes but won't list them all.

Never say never or always. In most cases, there is an exception to anything you can think of that you might use either word in. "Most likely" and "highly improbable" in a lot of those cases would ring true, but not never/always.

I just had a dream where GU was involve with TF2...maybe one day this will come true.
Portal is releasing an editor in the near future..maybe you guys can make some custom maps.
I plan on making some myself, and I could upload or Link to it.

Sorry if this is a bit of a gravedig, but if someone could make a 128x128 image I could easily make a spray for anyone who does play TF2, I still advertise my old Gaming YouTube channel and could easily switch to advertising this site instead of my Twitch which I was going to do, if it's all right with everyone else.
I play constantly (I'd say at least 3 hours a night), and the community for Team Fortress 2 is freakishly good. It would bring people in from that, and chances are they would attach themselves to any other game discussion as well.

I'm not entirely against the issue, but I do need to go over the guidelines and all. If a TF2 guild or whatever forms and a specialized forum is requested, we can go over that, as well.
