Good old games...
« on: January 30, 2012, 04:04:34 PM »
Google it. You'll find an awesome site where you can buy older games for a small fee.

Not trying to advertise here, but it's a really awesome site. Icewind Dale II is one of the games for sale there, and it never functioned well in Win7 off the disc. Well, I downloaded it from this site and it works perfectly on my Win7 machine. :)

I also got: Baldur's Gate II (complete), Icewind Dale I, Descent 1+2, Descent 3+Expansion, Neverwinter Nights Diamond, and Tyrian 2000 (that one was free).

I'm having a blast with it! I love having no CDs to worry about, and no nasty bugs in the games! :D Try it! ^^

I see my recommendation was a good one. ;)

BTW, I get emails on a regular basis from GOG. Dunno (yet) if that can be disabled.

Never say never or always. In most cases, there is an exception to anything you can think of that you might use either word in. "Most likely" and "highly improbable" in a lot of those cases would ring true, but not never/always.

Well, my brother was the one who recommended it to me. I actually passed it up because I was like "I already own the games," but I didn't think about the fact that they didn't function very well on Win7.

Then, recently, I remembered it, googled it, and I found it.

I don't get emails from them regularly. Maybe it's in my spam, but I don't seem to get them. :S

I believe I mentioned them when you were talking about buying a copy of Neverwinter Nights, though I could be mistaken. I (re)purchased Freespace 2 from them a while back, and they've been sending me emails announcing titles ever since.

Really? Interesting. I guess I don't remember. XD

I wish they would release Jedi Knight II as well. That would be an AWESOME game to release. :D

Edit: They just released Thief Gold. Ooooo...!

Ugh...I used to play EQ. I stopped with it and the never-ending expansions when EQ2 came out, and didn't stay with EQ2 for long. I bought DDO when it first came out, then went back to it when it went free to play. All the MMORPGs are fun to some extent, but each person has a certain game that really draws them in. I personally have no taste at all for WoW, for example, and millions love playing it all the time. *shrugs*

By te way, if you lose yur game via HDD crash or accidental deletion, you don't have to worry. You can re-download it from gog.com. I'm actually doing that now with Septerra Core and Freespace 2.

Yeah, I noticed that you can re-download all the games that you need. :) But I have back-ups. ^_^

I'm playing an Assassin in BG2 (are you surprised?), which is one of the Thief kits. I felt like playing a roguish character, and well, playing him has made me really think like an Assassin. I use Hide in Shadows, and then sneak up on a monster to backstab it. It's fun.

I haven't played Icewind Dale II in three years. Nothing compared to a decade, but still, it was a long time ago. Hopefully, I can pick up where I left off and finish the game.

There's currently a special on the D&D games. Buy any of them and you get Temple of Elemental Evil for free. I recommend Planescape: Torment if you've never played it It's a great story.

Unfortunately, I bought Planescape Torment before the DnD special. :(

Also, I had Temple of Elemental Evil once out of the box, but I hated it because of how core rulesy it was.

I owned it, but never played it, then the discss got lost or damaged. I think I'll grab Torment for this, then buy the rest later.  I already have two NWN licenses, too, so no need to buy that.

There's a 50% off of a bunch of Interplay games this weekend. I just picked up Descent 1-3 and Freespace 1, myself. It's a good deal if you have the change to spare. ;)
