I just did a quick test and found out that when you create an animation it can be called from anywhere.

In a screen script I ran this line.
DrawAnim("__an38",160,120,1,1);

In my Hexas boss this __an38 runs this animation.
AddAnimframe(Cast[0],2,0, Hands[0]);
AddAnimframe(Cast[0],-4,-11, "e_hexashands2");
AddAnimframe(Cast[0],4,-30, "e_hexashands7");
AddAnimframe(Cast[0],6,-34, "e_hexashands17");


So with some basic strings or searching this may have some interesting uses.

I used TextFile to return this info.

Well I just did a quickie test. Actually if you give your animation a unique name you probably won't have to do any searching.
Not sure of too many uses at this point unless if you want to keep animations in sync.
It was a rushed test, but it's still an interesting find to me.
