Quote from: Janus
the Cel Shading in Wind Waker was one of the coolest light renderings in any game that has ever been created.  The only reason people complained about the graphics was because the models were oddly shaped.  It had nothing to do with the shading at all.

As for the Miyamoto involvement, its already been stated that he and Amoua (sp) are supervising.  The game is being directed by someone new.

That's what I meant. The art style itself was too much of a shift for some people. I still find Links eyes rather creepy

Ahh, ok then ^_^

His eyes were really really big, but the reason for that was the same as why eyes are so large in Anime; they expressed a wide array of emotions without words.  Though, still...  really creepy XD

I used to hate the new look until I played the game all the way through. After that, I loved the new look they had given Link. No, I don't hate the old one, but the Wind Waker look was just so fitting and just so perfect. The expressions were so priceless.

The beauty of the tWW graphics is the fluidness of the movements...  Every single animation was so perfect.  And the lighting efects were so amazing.  It was like playing an anime :p

Anyway, this thread was originally about the new Zelda trailer, so we should get back on topic :p

In that light, the trailors animations are just as fluid and IMO, it would actually look VERY cool with cel-shaded rendering. However, the trailor seems to suggest a dark storyline(which isn't to say WW's storyline was happy and bright, it was pretty dark too. tWW made Ganon just look even more evil than in OoT. He really just does not care at all...), and the effects of the cel-shaded rendering, may or may not fit that. I'm also guessing that you have to design the textures in a certain way to get them to look right under cel-shading and it looks like, so far that they have already decided on what the textures will be like.

The realistic setup looks great and I'm excited, yet to me, sometimes, the scenes just don't like... Zelda. *shrug* IMO, this is the other extreme of the spectrum and Zelda would look best at a Compromise between this look and Wind Waker's look. Basically, more detail and a little less exaggeration on the WW's part and I'm guessing they designed some new stuff for this new Zelda, taking those things, effects, etc. and putting them with that style. That would look perfect.

An example of this style is the way graphics are done in World of Warcraft, IMO, if we could get a similar style for Zelda with the fluidness of Wind Waker's animations, then we'd have a really gorgeous looking game that looked like Zelda.

*sigh* You really miss the point? It's a form of rendering, it has nothing to do with the way the models were designed. Nevermind, this is getting a little too off-topic. Anyone else notice the "Tower of the Gods" like enemy in the trailor?

Yeah, I did, Aegis...  That thing was sorta mysterious, wasnt it?  Perhaps in this new installment, it'll be elaborated upon...?

I know what toon shading it. I'm just saying I would have liked a different design in terms of the shapes of the models and junk, hence my saying the the Oracle art style would look really cool with the toon shading renderer thingy used in WW.

I noticed the monster as well. There will probably be some back story involving the race as a whole or whatever, assuming it isn't an enemy.

I wanna know why the goron was beating the crap outta Link. Haven't they've been saved by enough guys in green with swords to know he's trying to HELP them -_-;

LOL, maybe that Goron is an evil one and you have to fight him to save the other Gorons.  Maybe he isn't evil but under a spell.  We won't know until this game comes out.

I just recently thought of something else: the area around Link and the Goron was circular, like an arena. And the goron looked like it was boxing. Maybe it's some minigame thingy, where you gotta fight to get money or whatever.

Nintendo says 4th quarter 2005 and I assume it'll be rated teen because there's no blood. Just these "cloud" effects like in previous Zeldas...

I assume it'll be released (in the US) in mid December, for the holiday season.
