You do have point there.  Isn't that why people go through all the trouble for making forum software?

I've seen it too.  I think it's pretty cool.  I believe I first saw it on a religious retreate weekend.

It's cool how that happens.

The Gaming Lounge / Favorite RPG
« on: May 11, 2002, 11:03:27 PM »
In no particular order the RPGs I like are:

Seiken Densetsu 3
Lufia (both of them)
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross
The whole Final Fantasy series
The whole Breath of Fire series
Diablo I & II
Grandia II
Tales of Destiny
Brigandine
Shining force I & II
Legend of Dragoon
Secret of Evermore
Secret of Mana
Kartia
Ogre Battle
Final Fantasy Tactics
Star Ocean the Second Story
Super Mario All Stars
Earth Bound
Azure Dreams

I think that's it.  I just happen to like a lot of RPGs with my favorite ones being:

The Final Fantasy series
The Breath of Fire series
Legend of Dragoon

That's it for now.  I probably like a couple more, but I can't think of them right now.

I know what you mean millmill.  I have several on the list that I haven't beaten yet.

General Chit Chat / Warning to MSN messenger users
« on: May 11, 2002, 10:46:18 PM »
I totaly agree.  I remember when I first installed XP on my laptop.  I imediatly shut down the services that were well known to be security problems.  Especially since when I'm at college I'm on our LAN almost all the time so I've had to shut down additional things as well.

Some were MSN messenger (I never used it anyway), the automatic check for critical updates (I prefer to do it manually), and universal plug and play. (don't need something as obvious as that opening my computer up unwanted visitors).

I also wasn't amused when I found that user profile in XP that allows M$ employees to connect to my computer and see my desktop. Oh how M$ make me angry somtimes!:angryfire

Once again M$ has left yet another security hole.  This time it lies in MSN messenger.  No doubt they must have been thinking something when they keep leaving all these holes open.  Click here for the article.

General Chit Chat / Anybody here use wireless?
« on: May 11, 2002, 02:54:00 PM »
Just curious if anybody here has used wireless access to get on their network at school or even just the internet.  Reason being I've come to really like the convience of just popping in my wireless card to get on the internet here at college so I can find a nice quiet place to be to study and to check here away from my loud dorm.  Not to mention how much it has helped my study group when we were meeting in places other than the library and needed the internet.[/b]

But then why don't you take a faster connection at home???

-BS-

Note:this was a rection to GW

We would, but we are too far for DSL and cable is too expensive.  Plus when I'm on break any money I make goes to my schooling.  Financial aid helps, but it doesn't cover things like text books and supplies.

When I finish school, it shouldn't be too hard for me to pull in enough money for it since I'm going into network administration and programming.

Microsoft took DOS out of XP and 2000.  They were built entirely on the Windows NT kernal which of course of made completely without DOS.  ME still has it, but used it less than Win98. (Which is why I've seen it considered to be the last in the Win9x series.)

In THEORY, ME should be able to run it if Win95, Win98, and Win98SE can.  These are M$ products after all.

To the best of my knowledge WinNT can emulate a DOS environment for DOS programs.  However, not all programs will work (ex: what we've seen with this one with XP and 2000) and the programs that do work, might not work entirely.  Ex:  As I have been suffering through QBasic this semester I couldn't print anything until I downloaded Win98 drivers for my printer and ran it in compatibility mode for Win98.

I'll try doing something like that for my video card, but I can only guess if it will work.

BTW what is Allegro?

 You are the first person I know that has a faster connection at home than at college.  Though I can see why with what happens when everyone is online.

I'm really going to miss my high-speed connection here on campus when I go home for the summer:(.  Going from a gig of bandwith to a dial-up will not be a fun transition...

BTW if I forgot earlier welcome to the forums Black Spark!;)
