General Chit Chat / Re: Guys... come back!

I sold my consoles to build a gaming pc so now all the games I play are from steam. But I want to get a switch so I can play Splatoon 2. I loved the first one.

The problem is that we grew up and the next generation doesn't use forums, they use facebook and tumblr, etc.

A good job is all you need to motivate a move, haha. I currently have a job I love but the pay is basically minimum wage.

I'm not very interested in it. Having built my own PC (finally) I'm mainly going to use that. I do still have my Wii U and I'll be holding on to it for a while.

The Gaming Lounge / Spiritual Successor to Banjo-Kazooie
« on: July 18, 2015, 12:12:35 AM »

So earlier this year YookaLaylee was announced and started a Kickstarter to raise funds for development. The developers from Banjo-Kazooie left Rare to start this project, and suffice it to say the hype has been UNREAL.

Site can be found here.

The kickstarter gained almost 200,000 moneys in half an hour, and 1 million in 21 hours. Now the kickstarter has finished, with over 2 million in funds.

They also had many rewards for different ammounts of donations, like t shirts or a digital copy or whatever.

Personally, I am feeling the hype for this one hard. I loved Banjo-Kazooie, and the videos I've seen of the development so far, including the music, has brought a strong sense of nostalgia to me. At the time of the kickstarter i was a little short on cash, so I couldn't contribute, but when this game gets released I will definitely be purchasing it.

What do you guys think about it?

I recently bought splatoon via nintendo download, but I recently moved onto campus with my wife and I didn't know that there were restrictions on the network. Apparantly the Wii U needs its own port to game online, vs my PS4 which can do just fine with the normal connnections. This means that I bought this game but can't use it. DX We go to my parents house for dinner every sunday though, so sometimes i bring it with me to get a few rounds in. I must say I really like this game. The atmosphere is well done. The games only have 2 maps at any given time, but they rotate every hour or so, which gives the feel of new maps all the time. Also they do actually make new maps all the time, lol. Anyway, this game is pretty addicting and way fun, I just worry about replayability in a few years it will be obsolete, which means my kids wont be able to play it. (wife is confirmed pregnant. release date sometime in february ;P)

I returned from my mission last June (was gone for two years in Samoa teaching my religion). Started school at the BYUH and started dating like crazy. I met my fiance just a few weeks after returning, but we didn't start dating for a couple months. I asked her to marry me in December, and we're set to be married on April 21st. NEXT MONTH!! Oh wow I love saying that. I should probably make a thread about it or something so you guys can see the invites. Other than that just battling laziness and homework. I have a Wii U now and I mostly play SSB and Shovel Knight (an amazing game btw), as well as my Xbox 360 which I mostly just use for Skyrim and Just Cause 2. I still have my old N64 which I play when I'm feeling nostalgic every once and a while, but it takes me like an hour to get it working again. Well that's me.

OK, so on a whim I bought a Wii U while I was in Utah for a family reunion, and like you aegis it took ages to update and stuff. I picket up a couple games with it so I could actually use it. I got the mario bros U with Luigi expasion that came in the box, then Wind Waker (obligatory), Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, and Rayman Legends. I haven't yet seriously sat down and played much for lengthy periods of time like I would have when I was a kid, but I've played a good bit of the intros to each game and I am really impressed with the capabilities of the Wii U.

I agree that Wind Waker looks BEAUTIFUL. I love the glowy shine that eminates from the sky and everything is all HD and sexy. Other than aesthetics, it plays pretty much the same, but I like how the menu screen is on the controller (unless you're playing in no-tv mode).

Mario bros U is pretty much what you'd expect. Actually surprisingly challenging in the later on levels, and the Luigi expantion is really difficult right off the bat.

DK Tropical Freeze is a great game for exploring what the wii U can do, utilizing many features. The game is also challenging enough to be fun and the controls are pretty great. Not really much to say otherwise. It's pretty much the same as Country returns, but with more snow.

Rayman Legends, however shows the most promise in the replay-ability department with tons of unlockable characters and levels, as well as periodic online challenges and trophies. Great game, and I love to finally have a rayman game of my own (really only ever played my friend's copy for short periods of time). I've always been a fan of Rayman though.

Good decision? Arguable, since coincidentally I've ran in to many problems that require money since returning to Hawaii. But I do like it and I'm glad that I now have one so I can look forward to playing super smash bros when it comes out. I also heard that Hyrule Warriors might be good. Having only played Dynasty Warriors for about ten minutes, I like the game concept. We'll see how it turns out, but in the end, I probably wont be reselling this console any time soon.

My only regret is buying all side-scrollers, so I don't have much variety in gameplay other than windwaker, which I've beaten many times.

I beat Hero Mode. I still had to use 3 blue potions and ALL my rupees with the Magic Armor to survive both final fights. I also had ALL 20 heart containers.

Man, it was brutal, but fun! :D

I dunno what to do now... XD
Is there any reward for beating hero mode? like playing in your pajamas? haha...

That is glorious. I probably only took a look at your site a time or two in the past, but its still got 'it'. I love the christmas section of sprites. I'm not a spriter, but I have massive respect for people who do.

by now. Didn't really care enough to look at the system, myself to see if there were any games coming out on it that I'd really die to play. Get them to make a new Dave Mirra game and I'll sacrifice my firstborn child to get it, though. ;]
oh man nostalgia right there. I'd love for a sequel or remake or whatever of this game. Many good saturdays were killed by Dave Mirra and ty the tasmanian tiger.

Sorry for the late wishes, but happy anniversary guys. My parents and my best friend's parents had theirs not long ago. Seeing people having anniversaries is a painful reminder of how single I still am... Starting up school again in a couple weeks so hopefully meet a few potentials. I really wish you two many more years of happy love together.
