Title: List of GU Members' Projects
Post by: Eliwood on December 03, 2006, 07:34:39 PM
This listing is in homage/update to an older listing from a few years ago. (http://forums.thegaminguniverse.com/showthread.php?t=6240 (http://forums.thegaminguniverse.com/showthread.php?t=6240))

The rules are simple. Post about game projects you're involved in or heading that aren't hosted at GU. Use the following format if you'd like.

_______________________________________

1) What is the project's name?
2) What is your position in the project?
3) What is the project about?
4) What languges or programs are used to create the project?
5) What platforms can run the project? (Windows, Linux, OS X, or all)
6) How complete is the project? [Planning/Concept, Pre-Alpha, Alpha, Beta, Completed]
7) Do you have any screenshots or additional information (website) to show?

_______________________________________

I will compile a full list of all of the projects in this first post.

Jon's original post didn't bar the listing to game projects, so I think we'll stay true to that. Any project will do, methinks. :)

Okay then :) I've got two major projects going on now, one more I've barely started, and one I've finished and would really like to pass onto another developer because I'm not too interested in it anymore. I'll only list the two I'm working on now though.

Valandur, you probobly should look into modifying the htaccess files and also doing some small modifications to the smf url writing to fix that with ease.

That's what I'm doing ;) .htaccess only works on certain Apache servers though, I'm not sure how IIS and Lighttpd work.

Hey there all :-)

I'm working on this right now: http://scarzzurs.dk/HydroHydra/testApplet.html.
I try to work on it every day, so if you like it, you might want to check every once in a while... :-)
Comments, ideas and critique are most welcome :-)

For those that might find the following useful, i supplied the... erm... following...
Name: Hydro Hydra (WIP name)
Language: Java
Credits: All and everything is made be me, game, game engine, graphics, idea and so on. :-)

The game engine was also used for the banner on Http://scarzzurs.dk and "Dust and Rocks 2" on the same website. I have plans for a multiplayer project in the future using the same engine.

Scarzzurs: Sure thing -- added. I left the description blank, so just let me know what you want in there and I'll fill it in for you. The game is looking pretty slick so far. What are you using for the tail 'nodes', mass springs?

Hey hey :-)

Well, i left the description blank as i thought it were only suggested that one could use the given format, if one liked.
But well, let me see what i can come up with :-)

If i am not mistaken, i've used acceleration on each node that is given by the following formula:
acc = k * (distance/distance limit)^l. Where k and l are both constant values. L lies between 1 and 2 (I haven't made up my mind yet :P ). The distance is the distance to an offset position from the node before. And then i apply my decceleration... which i am not even sure follows the real rules. Quite funny how i haven't payed much attention to real physics in this game, opposed to the rest of my games :-)

4) Python (eventually HTML, CSS and JS too)
5) Should support all OSes, although I've only tested it on Linux. Getting all the GTK stuff for Windows set up could be tricky
