I just got a Wii U!
« on: July 10, 2014, 08:22:53 AM »
... yesterday. XD It took me an hour and a half to set it up, but it's worth it.

I got the Wind Waker HD bundle (yes, GameStop is STILL selling it), so I'm quite happy since WW was my favorite GCN game. :l^_^

Consider me a fan! :)

I'm considering picking up a referbished unit eventually.  Other than Wind Waker, have you picked up any games?

Not yet. Just Wind Waker. Since it was an expensive purchase, I'm not planning to buy anymore games until my birthday month (November).

I'm with you aegis wind waker was a great one that I overlooked at first but went back and played it eventually and grew to love it. Now my 2nd fav zelda game aside from OoT (because nothing can replace OoT). I had a similar situation as you when I got my Wii. I didn't have any money left over to get games so I ended up just reselling it after a couple of months, (plus this was before Brawl was released.) Hopefully you are satisfied replaying a great classic until November.

Yar. Though, I've almost beaten it. XD The Zelda community seems to have grown fond of Wind Waker, too. Overlooked, and underrated for awhile, but then later, considered a masterpiece.

Congrats! Add me on Miiverse if you want! (Sileem)

Windwaker still holds up as my favorite Zelda game to date.

Mine too. Always has been since the first time I played it. :) I've thought of getting a Wii U just to play the HD [more accurately, I've told my mom if she wants to get a Wii U, I'll buy their Wii to offset the cost and then I'll borrow their Wii U, haha]. Is it worth it, Aegis?

It is SO worth it.

They really changed a lot of things for the better. For example, on the sea, you NEVER need to: Equip the Grappling Hook, the Bombs, the Sail and the Wind Waker to use them. The Wind Waker, the Cannon, and the Grappling hook are equipped on the d-pad buttons. The Wind Waker is up, Cannon is left, Grappling Hook is right.

You can still equip bombs/Grappling Hook in X, Y, or R buttons for use onshore, but for sea, you don't have to. You cannot equip the sail or the Wind Waker, though. But that's a good thing. You just need to tap A to set sail, and B to stop (you'll need to hold it) and B to get out.

B is your sword button, too, but Ninty probably figured since you can't use the sword at sea, why waste a button? :)

There's also a better sail in the game... ;) Faster, and it makes it so you don't have to change the direction of the wind all the time when sailing.

upgradable sail?? those are some really useful changes. Makes me think about getting one... Any noticeable graphics differences? like smoother animations or anything?

You mean besides the fact that the game is in HD (as it's title indicates) and thus makes full use of graphical effects that were technically impossible or literally impossible on the Gamecube? :P

Ugh...I couldn't stomach WW. Of course, I didn't really enjoy OoT, either. My favorites are the first four. 2, 1, 3, 4. But I didn't get to play much of 4, so it's not a completely fair assessment.

Congrats on getting the Wii U. I'll refrain from the obvious smell crack that I'm sure has been done to death by now. Didn't really care enough to look at the system, myself to see if there were any games coming out on it that I'd really die to play. Get them to make a new Dave Mirra game and I'll sacrifice my firstborn child to get it, though. ;]
Never say never or always. In most cases, there is an exception to anything you can think of that you might use either word in. "Most likely" and "highly improbable" in a lot of those cases would ring true, but not never/always.
