Scores not saved?
« on: February 25, 2013, 11:29:30 AM »
I've noticed some games don;t have any scores saved, and have an error occured when you finish playing them. Is there anything wrong on those games, like Pacman or Tetris?

I'll have to look into it. I haven't been keeping up with the arcades, and don't remember if any we currently have installed are bugged or not.
Never say never or always. In most cases, there is an exception to anything you can think of that you might use either word in. "Most likely" and "highly improbable" in a lot of those cases would ring true, but not never/always.

I remember there was no problem with Pacman and Tetris, which can't save scores now, but if I'm not mistaking there were some other games that had the same thing before. Thanks for looking.

Well, that sucks. But I'm sure Rowan can fix it.

I've had this same issue; the fix is simple. When you finish a game, you have to reload the tab/window before starting a new one. If you just click start/retry/whatever it says in the flash game, it will fail when it next tries to save the score. My guess is an issue with PHP sessions.
Peace and love :cool:

Any possible clue what could be causing it, Jeremy? Like a setting on the server itself I need to check or something in the BBS?

I'm looking at the code to the addon that's on the SMF website. There might be an error, but I'm not certain. I'd say try changing it, and if it breaks completely, it was meant to be that way and needs changed back.

Here are two code pieces:

Code: (arcade.php) [Select]
if (!isset($_REQUEST['sessdo']))
die('Hacking attempt...');

$_POST['action'] = 'arcade';

if (isset($_REQUEST['gamename']))
$_POST['game'] = $_REQUEST['gamename'];

$_POST['v3arcade'] = true;

if ($_REQUEST['sessdo'] == 'sessionstart')
$_POST['sa'] = 'vbSessionStart';

elseif ($_REQUEST['sessdo'] == 'permrequest')
$_POST['sa'] = 'vbPermRequest';

elseif ($_REQUEST['sessdo'] == 'burn')
$_POST['sa'] = 'vbBurn';

else
die('Hacking attempt...');

require_once(dirname(__FILE__) . '/index.php');

Code: (newscore.php) [Select]
if (!isset($_POST['game_name']))
die('Hacking attempt...');

$_POST['action'] = 'arcade';

$_POST['sa'] = 'submit';

$_POST['phpbb'] = true;

require_once(dirname(__FILE__) . '/index.php');

In the first one, it references a POST object named "gamename". In the second, it's "game_name". Those are awfully similar to not be the same; I wonder if that's a typo no one caught. If it is, it's going to halt right there because of that if/die statement.

Maybe gravedigging, however the original question applies again. Scores on Pacman and Tetris don't save. Did this issue get resolved before?

I played the non-score games not too long ago, still was not fixed.
However, don't know if it can be fixed.
