Title: [comic] Yamazaki vs. the World, Fight Comics
Post by: Guardian on January 04, 2004, 10:32:18 PM
Well, since comix seem to be cooling off (and I liked what I saw), I decided to attempt to throw a little something together.  I hope you like it.  It's basically:

The Fighting Game World Vs. Ryuji Yamazaki

Tonight's victim: Kano, circa MK3 (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix001_vsKano.html)

What do you think?

PS ... humor and me don't normally go together.  Be honest, but be kind:^)

LMAO!

personally, i find that one rather humourous, mainly because i get a kick out of smart people wiping the floor with stupid people using tricks like that

keep up the good work; you make good comics.  :lvictory:

Then I hope you'll like this ....

Today's victim: M. Bison!! (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix003_vsBison.html)

This one was particularly tough because I don't have very many CvS sprites and had to make do.  I even had to craft one or two.

PS ... please forgive the font, but I couldn't really find a good color with this background.  Anyway, enjoy!

Coming soon ... the battle epic!

Well, it has finally begun!  The Battle Epic!  What this is, basically, is comix against chars that I actually LIKE.  Because that's the case, I'm not going to make fools of them, but rather have actual battles (and maybe stuff a little humor in there somewhere).

First of the Epic chars: Goro (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/vsGUComix004_GoroP1.html)

Those are Awesome. I liked the first one but the second was funny but not as good as the first.  The one with Goro seems pretty cool. Keep up the good work.

Sorry about that.  The background wouldn't give way to ANY color clearly.  If you still can't read it, let me know and I'll post the dialogue below it.

Here's Part 2 of Yamazaki VS Goro (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/vsGUComix005_GoroP2.html)

And now, a special treat for you:

Parts 5 AND 6 of Yamazaki Vs. Goro ... the conclusion!
Of course, the special treatment comes from the fact that posting Part 5 yesterday got wasted in what I've begun to call the 1/13 attacks.  Anyway, here's the end of the saga.   Enjoy!

Congratz, rcx21000 -- 500 are yours!

Well, I've just run through MK2 (Arcade) and I'm pleased to report that I now have all the Kintaro and Shao Khan sprites from it.  However, it's going to take me some time to edge them out, so if anyone has those arcade sprites it'd really help:^)

This pretty much goes for any chars proportionate enough to SNK.  If you got them, please help me out!  I've discovered gamegen fighter pages, but they only have so many.  I may have to contribute!  But any help is appreciated.

lol, I really like these comics!  The first is my favorite at the moment.  Also a question, when did demetri have an SNK sprite??? Is he in Capcom vs SNK Chaos or something?
Title: [comic] Yamazaki vs. the World, Fight Comics
Post by: Guardian on January 16, 2004, 08:29:39 AM
I think so.  I rip them where I can off the net (GSA's where I got those), but otherwise I rip them from the games myself.  Not so bad when it's Kawaks, but MAME doesn't allow me to get rid of the backgrounds, so I have to do those the hard way (like MK games).  Also, does anyone know how to keep the one layer on Kawaks that I ask for rather than having all the others blinking in all the time?

B. You missed the very last Goro slide.

Today's victim: Leona (KoF) (http://guardianslair.zymichost.comr/GUComix011_vsLeona.html)
((and sorry about the double))

Ok, please be kind on this one.  I know it's not my best work, but keep in mind that it's gonna be hard to do comix against females WITHOUT some form of insulting behavior.  Besides, he's crazy!
Title: [comic] Yamazaki vs. the World, Fight Comics
Post by: Guardian on January 19, 2004, 03:15:50 PM
I'll have to apologize for the Leona comix, but you have to admit that it's difficult to do these against a woman AND be funny.  However, to make up for it, I'm introducing my second Battle Epic.

Today's opponent: Ralf (SNK/UFGE version) (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix012_vsRalfP1.html)

To be honest, I really don't know this character, so I'll have to improvise on what little I do.  Here's the first part.

Post by: M-BASS™ on January 19, 2004, 03:21:29 PM
Guardian, if you want some girls fighting, why don't you let two girls fight each other??
I think that's resonable :shrugani:

Then the main-character gets some well earned holiday :dpwink:!!
Title: [comic] Yamazaki vs. the World, Fight Comics
Post by: Snypa on January 19, 2004, 05:18:05 PM
You should make Leona come back for vengenace Orochi-fied style.  Don't forget that Orochi blood runs through her veins (as does Yamazaki (half-breed), Iori (half-breed), Rugal (half-breed), Goenitz (full: Wind), Shermie (full: Lightning), Yashiro (full: Earth), and Chris (Orochi vector: Fire))
Title: [comic] Yamazaki vs. the World, Fight Comics
Post by: Guardian on January 19, 2004, 06:36:20 PM
One: I don't know many of these fighters.  If there any websites with in-depth profiles on fighting game chars (especially KoF), then it'll help me a lot.  Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat ... those I'm quite familiar with.  KoF and such are new to me, so I'll need a little help understanding them.  gamegen.com isn't that helpful on personalities.  Plus ... what is Orochi?

As for Leona ... didn't exactly want to give it away, but we will see her again somewhere.

Other than that, how am I doing?

Oh my bad, I thought you knew lots about Yamazaki + the story.  But check your PM for the link.

Ah, I'll put it here too, for any others curious about the greatness of KOF:
http://db.gamefaqs.com/coinop/arcade/file/king_of_fighters_story.txt

And Orochi is KOF's best villian/storyline IMO. (Game: KOF '97 & '96?).  Anyway, that storyline is explained in the link as well. As for the comic, the action + dialouge is great, plus it features KOF so I'll love it automatically.

announcer sprites? Whats that?

Just a sprite of someone on a microphone ... preferably facing the camera (and away from it would help, too).  If you have one, great.  If you can find one, great.  If you want to make one, even better!

Any announcer will do.  Oh, well.

Yamazaki Vs. Sagat, Part 2: Futility??? (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix024_vsSagatP2.html)
(and yes, I've added some more room for more action)

Sorry it took so long and sorry it's not my best work.  Been a long trip!  Hopefully the comedy I planned will be in the next episode.  Meantime, hope this one does.

As always, very very nice work, Guardian.

And finally ...

Yamazaki Vs. Sagat, Conclusion: Unexpected Twist (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix027_vsSagatP5.html)

What?? Didn't expect that???  Hey, sometimes a warrior knows when to make friends with the enemy!  And sorry if I made Sagat a bit of a cry-baby ... wasn't really trying to go for that, but I think it works anyway.  In any case, there comes a time in any great warrior's life when they question their worth ... mostly from a few losses after a lot of wins.  And I'd like to think that deep down Sagat has a little bit of nobility left in him (like he seemed to after you beat him in SF1).  I hope you've enjoyed the Sagat series.  I hope I'll be able to make more soon, as I DO have a big finish to get to.

Until the next battle, friends!

Well, it's not exactly a GU comix ... it's just for fight chars.  However, I HAVE contemplated pitting our good friend RY against one or two GU members.  Still unsure of that one.

Anyway, to business.  I was gonna wait until tomorrow, but what the hell.

Tonight's victim: Wolverine (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix030_vsWolverine.html)

How long do they take?  Depending on what I have available, it can take anywhere from twenty minutes (not often) to an hour and a half (if not more).

BTW, after I finish with Rage of the Dragons, I'll be taking requests.  Anyone want to see RY beat up anybody special?  And no ... no mirror match, nor anyone he's already faced.

Title: [comic] Yamazaki vs. the World, Fight Comics
Post by: Stormwatcheagle on April 17, 2004, 12:01:52 PM
I'll explain...

In Japan, Bison (In Japan Vega) is still the boss. They named our Balrog M.Bison after Mike Tyson. Not asking for permession and not wanting to get sued, they switched over some names in the American release. Now, the name M. Bison doesn't quite work on a character looking like our US Vega, so they gave the name to the boss instead. Then, they made Japanese Balrog (the Spanish guy with the claw, if you watch the movie, you know he's a cold mofo) Vega, Japanese M. Bison (the boxer from the US) Balrog, and Japanese Vega (The big boss in red) M. Bison.

And the rest, is history.

By request ...

Tonight's Battle Epic: T. Hawk (SSF2) (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix038_vsTHawkP1.html)

I didn't expect to turn this into an epic, but I felt I had a little more I could do ... plus, this will lead the way into the grand scheme of my comix.  Don't expect this to be very funny ... as humor isn't really what I was going for.  Now, I'm getting to the point where I'm starting to show my comix as a whole storyline rather than just random funnies.  The next few battle epics I have in mind I hope I can make cool enough, but for now, we'll go with this one.

Art note: The sunset background was the one I wanted most, but the T Hawk I snatched from MUGEN was too bright, so I darkened his scheme just a little to at least TRY to be in keeping with the sunset behind him.  I like how it turned out and hope you do, too.

Enjoy!

NEWS FLASH

They're trying to ship me Monday, so I don't know when I'll be back.  When I do, I hope to have enough with me to continue comix.  But, for now, it's on hold.  Hopefully I'll return with some good ones.  I've already got some done, but it's too soon in the story to release them now.  Meantime, I'll take some requests with me, but I could use some help.  I don't have whatever game Dr. Doom is in and I need his background (preferably a 240x200 of the center with 10-15 pixels of floor) because he's going to come into this very soon.  Chars I got or can find, but backgrounds are where I need some help.

And if I can't get back to this, then it was a real pleasure doing these comix for you.  Hopefully soon enough I'll be able to come back to them.  PRETE NAMA:^)

Also, if you have requests, please enclose an attachment of or email me the FSS of the char (or the MUGEN entry so I can draw the frames myself) because I don't have very many chars right now.  I'd like to get my hands on a Zangief or a Billy Kane.  HOWEVER ... I can only download to a floppy, so I'll need the files split up into 1.2MB files or less (preferably less).  I have a few disks to work with, but not many.  I'd appreciate any help you can give as I can't surf for MUGEN files for a good long while now.

Today's Victim: Setsuna (Last Blade Series) (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix044_vsSetsuna.html)

And, seeing as how I've never really played LB much, I never got into the story.  So, for his personality, I basically guessed.  I hope it's still enjoyable.

Well, time for another epic.  This one I don't know all THAT well, but has the potential for some SERIOUS confrontation.  This will definitely show a dark(ER) side of Yamazaki, but at the same time help us remember that the fight is real.  Sure, there are some jokes, but the serious aspect is, of course, designed to deepen the conflict and heighten the storyline.  The direction I'm taking is a rather interesting one, so I hope you enjoy it.  And, with that being said ...

How'd I miss that comic before?  Dunno.  But anyway, Setsuna is from The Last Blade, not Samurai Showdown.  Good Comic though.

Well, Iori would do less talking and more killing, but I wouldn't rule out a more civil Iori either.

And you got it right with both of them consisting of Orochi blood. (Doesn't mean they're related though).  Yamazaki, Iori, Leona, and Rugal are half-breeds (meaning mixed blood of human & orochi).  Goenitz(Wind), Yashiro(Earth), Shermie(Lighting), and Chris(Fire) are full blooded Orochi (They are the 4 heavenly kings of Orochi; Chris being the main vector, which explains why he transforms into Orochi)

In the Japanese Orochi legend, Orochi was an 8 headed monster. If you look at Orochi from KOF's tattoo design, it's a circle with 8 strokes coming from the center.   In KOF, there are 8 Orochi members (4 half, 4 full).  See the connection?  (There are rumors of more Orochi infected members, but none of it's really confirmed)

Ending my rant, I don't know if that'll help you in your story, but I like the way it's going anyway.  Keep 'em coming.

Bad news, campers ... this may be the last series I do for about a month!  Why?  Because my computer decided that it didn't want to boot up anymore.  Someone fortunately managed to reformat my hard drive and I was able to reinstall my modem.  However, I cannot reload my zip drive, which is where all my material is.  I can't even finish Part 6 of Iori, but don't worry ... it'll come!  Meantime, let me get out what I can.

Keep em coming, but be not hasty on them, great comics don't most often come in hour making, it comes on days, or even weeks. PS ... since there are just too many fighters out there, I've decided to consolidate a few in "fillers", if you will.  This way, you'll at least see them.

Yamazaki & Kyo (feat. Juli & Juni), Conclusion: Interrogation (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix081_vsKyoP7.html)

Remember: the assassination game knows no differentiation!

Sorry if my updates are so few and far in between, but my "weening" process is becoming successful.  No, it doesn't mean that I'm trying to get off the computer completely.  The goal is simply to spend LESS time and I'm able to do so.  So, my updates will be a little slower.  However, I will shoot for weekly updates.  This saga isn't over yet by a longshot!!

Oh, speaking of taking longer:
I've also taken into account all the complaints about how they're unable to read the font, so I'm experimenting with dialogue bubbles.  Lemme know what you think.  I personally don't like them because they drown out the background, but that's just me.  As long as you're enjoying them, it'll be worth the longer process it'll take to do them.  Hope you enjoy!

EDIT: despite having a story planned out (got my next 10-15 victims picked out), I'm still taking requests.  My way-out-there writing style does afford me the ability to fit stuff in (unless I'm saving it;^).  But if anyone had any problems viewing the txt files before, they've all been updated to html files.  Hope you still enjoy the show!

I read all the ones I missed and regretted missing them in the first place.  Plus my all time favorite fighter K' is in the mix.  Just me being picky, K' is actually pronounced "Kay Dash"  the ' is actually pronounced believe it or not :P

But that doesn't really matter.  Great content and I love the dialouge and the bubbles make a huge difference to what it looked like before.  Looks really clean.  Keep up the great work.

The last two aren't bad plot-wise but I can't believe you used Kazmer's crappy Graveyard.(It's nowhere close to the actual graveyard.I suppose this is why you wanted the graveyard). It would have looked much better had you actually ripped a few screenshots. Now you've got Kazmer's grave all over your comic.

Here's some screenshot I'd taken awhile back. I'd never got around to piecing it all together because of all the parallaxing layers, there's like 6-7 layers.(I did get the top layer done[not included here] though)

Yamazaki vs. K', Part 3: Attempt to Reason (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix095_vsKDashP3.html)

Sorry for the lack of update last weekend.  I kept it brief and simple today due to lack of time lately.  I just hope that I can at least make this one a good fight.  Enjoy the show!

Then enjoy a bonus feature ... an early release!

Yamazaki vs. K', Part 6: Stale Mate (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix098_vsKDashP6.html)

Oh, and just to let you know ... I found a GREAT website that features cool art (and some adult, which is why there'll be no link in this post), animations, and -- best of all -- character profiles!  Now, I've gotten some great plot-twist ideas for these comix.  Get ready for an action-packed soap opera roller coaster!!

Still reading these ya know, and I'm still loving them.  As always I can still give you tons of info on anyone from King of Fighters so you can come up with even more snazzy yet 'sensical' plot twists.

Not as if any of this doesn't make sense, but i mean sensical as in it goes EXACTLY with the character.  (like K's sister is Whip (fitting), but Jill going out with K' (doesn't go in character but I sure as hell love the idea here! ^_^ I <3 Jill Valentine))  Keep up the awesome work man.

...And don't kill K' plz!

Dunno if K' will die, but he's not exactly going away.  You be the judge:

Yamazaki vs. K', Conclusion: Regrouping? (http://hthttp://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix099_vsKDashP7.html)

And, yes, anything you have will be very helpful, especially storyline and profiles for the male KoF chars (found good female profiles, but only a few of the more recognizable ones).  But what I learned about those main females have really gotten my ideas together for some hard-hitting action to come.  Meantime, enjoy the show!

And now for something ... well, this is a basically unknown character for me, so bear with me.  I'm sure you can tell by how it's written in case anyone DOES know anything about this one.

Anyway, here goes.  Enjoy the show!

Tonight's Victim: Tessa Tabasa! (SvCC) (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix101_vsTabasaP1.html)

(hey, she was in SvCC and I thought it'd be a nice fill since it was my intention to get as many fighters as possible)

Tessa is a Darkstalkers character, those sprites will look better than the CvSNK:C sprites.

Yamazaki vs. Tabasa, Conclusion: Clearing the Path (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix102_vsTabasaP2.html)

What DID Tabasa do in DS, anyway, since I never saw her before SvCC?  I'd have to see those sprites before I can agree, but so far I've been liking the SNK treatment of Capcom chars much better than vice versa (if they even did that).

Anyway, up next ... FINALLY ... Cammy!  And wait til you get a load of the script I've got for this one!!

Yamazaki vs. Cammy, Part 2: An Offer He Shouldn't Refuse (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix104_vsCammyP2.html)

Thanks to Fighter Mania (http://kattuggla.oru.se/dmd01/dm0103/test/index.asp), I've learned a great deal about fight game chars.  This mostly means that using Samurai Showdown and Last Blade chars will be difficult, but I'll find a way to fit them in.

However, I've spent a SIGNIFICANT amount of time on the script for future comix and, I gotta say, I've managed to incorporate things quite nicely!  So, you're in for one hell of a ride!  I've already got my next twenty to thirty chars planned out!  I AM taking requests, but you'd better hurry!  Though NOTHING may prepare you for what goes down when Yamazaki faces ... OROCHI!!

Meantime, enjoy the show!
Title: [comic] Yamazaki vs. the World, Fight Comics
Post by: Snypa on July 08, 2005, 05:19:12 PM
Sounds awesome then.  As always, your attention to detail is impeccable and continues to impress me.  I've read up on your storyline too even (than the one's 'released') and it's pretty damn nicely put together.

Though of course, if Orochi's going to make an appearance, than that would mean his vector (main host) would have to show up to no?  Can't have Orochi without Chris, the one who got me into KOF in the first place.  But seeing you mention the "New Face" team really does show you pretty much know the gist of how everything goes.  Which would also mean you know about the three clans that keep Orochi sealed from the start

Iori Yagami (Yagami Clan: Keeping the Orochi at bay)
Kyo Kusanagi (Kusangi Clan: The force to restrain the Orochi)
Chizuru Kagura ("Yata" Clan: The ones who hold and keep Orochi sealed)

However, since you know Iori himself (and his clan) willingly infected themselves with the Orochi blood, which explains why Iori's fire is purple, due to the fact that they were jealous of Kusanagi Clan's role as the "force" or attackers, it would explain why Iori and Kyo are eternal rivals, while Chizuru acts as the mediator and at times, even gets those two to actually work together!

Anyway, I'm getting off topic with that and could go on and on and on about that whole bit, but my love for it all has me anxious to see where you take it yourself.  Excellent job as always and don't forget, you can always ask me too if you don't know something about someone (mostly KOF characters; SF maybe, but I'm no expert in SF) ;)

You express your particular brand of humor and keep a plot very well in your comics Guardian, and it's one of the only things I read in the library (I read every strip, even thouhg I could comment more), so if you stopped making them I'd think of it as a tragedy =/

But it is important for you to spend time with your family, so if there really is less interest in them then there used to be, you could find somewhere to finish the series (just make sure to do it in an awesome way!!!). You do have at least a few readers though, trust me =)

Ok, this is clearly getting too difficult for me.  Too many chars on each screen at once is getting way too time-consuming ... the kind, I'm sure you can relate to, that makes me not want to do these anymore.  My script calls for several more like it, so I'm going to have to find ways to trim them down a bit.  Yeah, it'll make them more predictable, but I'll at least try to make them funny (but most of all, kick-ass battle-rific)!  You can be sure it'll happen in the next comix, but in the meantime ...

I agree Guardian, the last few were packed. Mainly the dialogue was taking up as much space as the characters sometimes. Other than the crammedness I liked them, Bison is teh man :p

If you could be spending more time with your family than you are doing these, then do so. Don't let this get in the way of priorities. I usually check up on this about every 3 episodes.

It's hard to do something funny in any genre.  You try hard and you get some good laughs in there.  It doesn't have to be a joke all the time but as long as you have a compelling story, I'll keep on reading it!

Agreeing with Raysyde, you're underestimating your sense of humor. ^_^ Your comic is really amusing. :)

And as a critique I could say that it gives a bit dum feeling to the scenes when the lackeys just stand there at same pose silently thru the fight thoug Yama has just hurt their feelings/revealed his true thoughts about them. (or atleast that is what you say to people) I'd have waited them to have some kind of reaction or atleast change of look on their face during the fight of Joe and him.

I'll try not to.  I've been working on the story and have decided to wrap this project up after all ... at least, sooner than I planned.  However, that still means several episodes planned to get there.  So, unless I get requests, I'm not going to get Yamazaki to fight every fight char out there, after all.

In the meantime ...

Today's Filler Episode: Mission Briefing # 1: Infiltrate Birdie (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix128_MissionBrief01.html)

Btw: who's Cammy again??
Title: [comic] Yamazaki vs. the World, Fight Comics
Post by: Guardian on July 08, 2006, 12:53:18 PM
Cammy (given by some the surname White) is that blond and rather hot chick in the leotard, pigtails, and beret in Super Street Fighter 2 that returned in a turtleneck variation of that outfit with a Class-A garrison cap for XMen vs. Street Fighter and one or two of the Street Fighter Alpha series.  Cammy was also the short blond in pigtails in the movie Street Fighter played by Aussie hottie (how male of me;^) Kylie Minogue (talk about Can't Get You Outta My Head).

In earlier episodes, we first met her in England when Bison spread the T-Virus around Sussex.  She defended the castle there (subsequently her level in SSF2) until Yamazaki knocked a mind-control chip out of her head.  For reference, see the following:

Yamazaki vs. Cammy, Part: 1 (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix103_vsCammyP1.html) 2 (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix104_vsCammyP2.html) 3 (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix105_vsCammyP3.html) 4 (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix106_vsCammyP4.html) 5 (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix107_vsCammyP5.html) 6 (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix108_vsCammyP6.html) 7 (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix109_vsCammyP7.html) 8 (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix110_vsCammyP8.html) 9 (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix111_vsCammyP9.html)

Well, I hope you at least like this next episode to close out Oni.  Yes, I could use some work on my one-liners, but you may find this one a particularly good fight.

Which reminds me.  I've been tinkering here and there with my comics script and, it seems, that this is going to become less like a funnies-type comic and more like your Prince Valiant or Alley Oop type EPIC comics.  So, instead of doing battle epics, I'm simply going to state that this whole thing is one.  That's not to say that I won't continue to try to cap them off with jokes, but some will be capped with suspense, as well.  But, please, tell me if my story isn't interesting you at all.  Tell me if you're not liking the fight sequences or how they can improve.  Or tell me what you may like about them.  I'm bringing this to GU ... for all of you.

Anyway ...

Yamazaki vs. Oni, Conclusion: Don't Forget About ... (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix155_vsOniP3.html)

Up next (FINALLY): The Birdie Gang!!

Ok ... this is a quadruple post.  I'm thinking it's time to end my comics.

It's been a nice run, but why take the time and effort that could be better spent with my family if I'll have nothing to show for it?  I won't get rid of them, and maybe I will make them somewhere down the line.  But, for now, it seems no one's interested.

So, here are the last three episodes I've made ready for release.  Hope you enjoy them ... at least somewhat.  Ladies and gentlemen, I give you ... the Birdie Gang!

Brian Battler (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix157_vsBrianBattler.html)
Lucky Glauber (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix158_vsLuckyGlauber.html)
Heavy D' (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix159_vsHeavyD.html)

WARNING: racial themes in Lucky Glauber episode.  These are not my views, nor do I believe they would've been the characters'.  All would've been explained had I continued the series.  We'll see what the future brings.

NOTE: If anyone wants to continue these, I'd be more than happy to share my comic script and outline.

Awww. :-( I'm sad to see you ending your comic, where I will now see such great sprite usage? But, it's an understandable decision.

(The ending of the Lucky Glayber part was über. XD)

I have enough to do with my own comic, and I doubt I could ever be as good as the master.

So the series finally comes to an end.
As sad as it may be, I am glad you will finally have time to spend with those important to you.
A very nice set of comics to finish with too. I particularly liked the Brian Battler and Lucky Glauber ones.
"Had to make it racial, didn't ya!"
And of course cheerleaders never hurt. ^^

Congratz and I wish you the best.

At this point, I just don't know.  I'm able to type, but the use of a mouse is kind of "ify".  I do still have a couple of unreleased comics, but they're parts of the following filler toward the fight with Birdie.

The question is ... who wants the comics to continue?  It's the lack of feedback that made me think they weren't liked enough to continue.

So, aside from anyone telling me they want them back, (presumptuous as this sounds) I'd need convincing ... I'd need to know WHY you'd want them back.

Personaly with any long comic series there's always one major problem.
Trying to catch up!
If you don't read every episode then the comic is not as funny because you do not know what's even going on.

Maybe you can split it up into chapters and at the begning of each chapter you can tell what the last chapter was about. If we don't feel like going through a whole chapter we can atleast find out what it's about.

I have a feeling though that your comic doesn't really have a story line, and is just about fighting? It could be one of the things it lacks if this is what it's about. Since I only read so many episodes I'm not even sure of this either.

I think I'd be more interested in GUF comic and we have to stop the dreaded Narshe. Or a new enemy if someone wants to create the gfx for him/her/it.

After all when something is not working out right then it needs to be ended, or changed. My OZ comic went through some small changes when I went from bubbles to text which gave me a little more free room to work with.
Title: [comic] Yamazaki vs. the World, Fight Comics
Post by: Guardian on October 29, 2006, 01:24:13 PM
Then let me clarify:

It started out as a chance to pick on other fight chars, but after so many episodes, I added a storyline (it begins with Yamazaki vs. T.Hawk).  With the amount of characters to face, I designed a plot that would ensure I get nearly everybody against Yamazaki, which means that the comic graduated a long time ago from simple comic to an epic.  So, yes, there is a storyline and a plot.  The story plot is:

M.Bison continues to work to rule the world.  Because Yamazaki beat him (in only the 3rd episode of this comic), he's being tapped to take care of Bison, who is beginning to amass powers and abilities that range from other fight games.  As the situation grows more desparate, Yamazaki must face challenges within himself as well as from other fighters in order to have the strength to beat Bison again and destroy his plans of world conquest once and for all.

Basically, it was the most sensible way to get Yamazaki to face everyone!

If there's no interest, then perhaps I can remove it from GU.  Despite GU being my inspiration to start, I can deal with it by simply keeping it on my site.  I can accept if no one wants it around anymore.  I just need to know whether or not that's the case.

Thanks for your input, KoH, so now it seems there is one "no".  Any others?

Well, I personally like your comic a lot, and would like to see it continue, though I do understand if don't want to continue.

I think that the lack of comments is because of the fact it's hard to comment on your comic. The fights are usually well done, there's nothing to complain, the characters may be a little less known and some may not get the joke or then don't just like a fighting comic.

One reason why I'd like to see your comic continuing is the fact it's different from the others I've seen.

Yay he's back! ^_^ Was about the time =)
Nice filler ;)

One hint, I've noticed that the ebil dudes who Yamazaki fights against tend to have very similar way of speach, unless they are somehow very visible different, style, styled up like ghetto gansta etc. All "I will beat your [Insert some body part] off!" muscular macho dudes. It's a little bothering thing as the people who he's fighting against have so different ways of battle and all in the end.

BTW, you may notice a few things as I do comics lately.

1. I've been taking a little more care of them, like the mouths in speech or trying not to use mirror frames (see different in Heidern's eyepatch between episodes 1 & 2).

2. I've been doing A LOT of talking.  Why?  Because I have to convincingly match storylines of radically different fight games.  Well ... how'm I doin'?
Title: [comic] Yamazaki vs. the World, Fight Comics
Post by: Mystara on June 12, 2007, 10:28:24 AM
I think you are doing fine in tieing the different fighting games together, I imagine it takes a lot of planning and imagination to succeed in that. =) And imo, having a little more speech in some parts just balances those action filled episodes where the main part is in beating the hell out of people.

These are starting to take a lot longer, and my time lately has been much more limited, so please bear with me.  Fortunately, at least one of the five parts of this next series I'm about to give you won't take as long.  And, no, it's not just stacking nine characters on one 300x200 panel several times including dialogue, but coming up with the right poses.

This next one, however, I kind of messed up with the background, so I had to shrink all the characters, compromising some of the graphics quality, and for that I apologize.

On the plus side, I found some more advertising methods for my comics .... mainly onlinecomics.net.  Hopefully, I'll reach a wider audience.

Anyway, it's been awhile since our pal Yamazaki had a mission, now that he's already taken down Birdie ... sooooooo ...

I just went through and spent ALL morning reading from comic 1. I think I'm following the story, sort of. Extra things like "Sacred Treasures," and the like are confusing me as I didn't see anything about them in the earlier comics. Hrrmmm... Any clarification on this?
Title: Re: [comic] Yamazaki vs. the World, Fight Comics
Post by: Guardian on February 13, 2008, 01:14:28 PM
I'm sorry I missed that, but since I already have way too much text in my comics as it is, I'll explain ... and this is as best an explanation as I can give, though you're better off going here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Regalia_of_Japan).

Japan's Shinto religion has in its royal hierarchy three sacred treasures, or Imperial Regalia of Japan, (a sword, a bead that looks like one half a yin-yang, and a mirror) ... the sword that came from one of the Orochi beast's tails after Susanoo cut off its eight heads and started on its many tails (the sword is called Kusanagi, kinda like Excalibur in a way); the bead is a jewel called Yasakani that was used by Susanoo to lure out his sister Amateratsu, as was a mirror called Yata.  They were handed down through Japanese emperors from about 690AD until about the 1940s when they were sent to three different shrines.  ((You can look up the names and locations and all on wikipedia or click the link above.))

Anyway, these myths were put into the King of Fighters series where Orochi was summoned and stopped by representatives of the clans that defeated him before (I think this was explained about 3 or 4 fillers ago), each a "sacred treasure" - Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami (whose ancestors were once called Yasakani), and Chizuru Kagura (formerly Yata until some point).

I don't know how long before the next episode comes up, but keep hope.  It'll come ... sadly with several characters at once, as well.  But, hey, the fighting shall commence again!

Meantime, enjoy the show:^)

A lot of people can go around killing, looting, etc.  The true difference is whether you have the legal authority to do so.  Good comic as always, Guardian.

And, to start the journey to Orochi ...

Filler Episode: The Long Path Through the Black Dragon! (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix178_FillerLongPath.html)

Oh, and a note to the Double Dragon enthusiasts out there: since this is a FIGHT comic, this will all be based on the fight game version of the Double Dragon saga (Rage of the Dragons), not the original Double Dragon saga ... which I've suddenly found harder to follow than I thought.  Plus, as usual, I've taken some creative license with the various stories between King of Fighters, Rage of the Dragons, and Mortal Kombat.  Wait, where'd MK come from?  Well, you'll find out.

Enjoy the show!

Short, but sweet. He got one hit on Yamazaki, though.

Is that supposed to be "ideas" or "idealists?"

Good one.

First, it's actually 2 hits ... a kick to the gut and a trip that ended up lining Yam up for a good hit.

Second, it's a wordplay off "bright ideas", so idealists IS what I meant to put there.

Third, thanx:^)

After two years ...

Filler Episode 192: Driven Psycho (http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix192_FillerDrivenPsycho.html).

I'm sorry it took so long, but I'm even sorrier for its current appearance.  Lycos became Multimania, which completely crapped out on me and ate everything I ever did, and my files tend to exceed the 300kb limit.  So, I went exploring and found wix.com, which isn't the best site I've ever seen, but it'll at least let me post my comics, so ... here.  If anyone has something better that I don't have to pay for, I'm all ears!

EDIT: Special thanks to GU member Jeremy, who suggested Zymic for hosting.  All my episodes have been restored (you'll have to use the above link and some reason until I can update all the links in this thread: first is http://guardianslair.zymichost.com/GUComix001_vsKano.html).  So, in short, I'M BACK:^)

Enjoy the show:^)

I think you should just number them instead of putting "100CammyP1.html" (paraphrased example), and also have like a list so I can get back to where I was without having to start at "1" and click "Next Episode" repeatedly until I get there. That would be great.

Keep up the good work. :)

I'm sorry I never answered you on this offer.  It never escaped my attention; I just never knew what to tell you.  What would you have in mind?  How/where would you host it?

Um, Motaro. j/k how about Rain.
I am sorry this took me SOOO long to get around to.  I was going to wait until next week to release this one, but after going through the old posts in this thread to upload the comics (since my site's going on its sixth month of being offline), I've decided not only to give you this one now (I hope red_team316 is still skulking around) but with both barrels!

Ladies and Gentlemen (and the rest of you animals;^), I give you ...

I've been holding onto this for a while, which is the first of a four-part filler into the next stretch of victims.  Since I lost my main external drive, I pretty much lost most of my fight comics materials.  However, having emailed some to myself, I can at least present the last completed episode.  I may finish this stretch at least, but after that I don't know.  Too bad, too (if I don't continue), seeing as how I went through the trouble of changing their outfits (or at least the colors).  Anyway ...

The website's gone.  Zymic just evaporated and I don't imagine it's coming back.  All I have left is uploaded on this site and the few scraps I emailed myself.  I'll have to start all over, grabbing MUGEN resources from all over and such.
